Do Not Try This At Home

If your little brother is playing with his Nintendo DS that he got for his birthday a month ago, promptly lost for two weeks, and then recently found under his mattress, and you see that the screen to the DS is dirty, do not attempt to clean it by drenching it with the garden hose.
As you may imagine, the electronic gaming system does not respond well to being doused with water . . .
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—I couldn’t make this s*%t up if I tried!

We tried rice and it worked a little. The thing has a double screen, and one of the screens now flickers in and out, but mostly out. 🙁 I'm wondering if I could take it back to Gamestop with our "extended warranty" we bought… Maybe they won't ask us what happened?! 🙂

My daughter dropped hers and it was her fault. I called Nintendo and if you give them $5 for shipping they will fix it for free. I don't have a credit card so I had them mail me a slip and that way it costs nothing and they either fix it or give a new one. I even told them it was our faults. You might just call and see.
Good luck! GameStop is really easy to work with- as long as you are within their warranty.
Oh! That made my heart hurt. I know that story well. We left a phone (battery out) in the car for a week and the heat of the car dried it out better than anything.
But I bet gamestop is your best bet. Hope it works out!
At least it wasn't plugged into the wall at the time.
