God Bless the U.S.A.

Cue the music.
Vote.
Honor those who leave their families, fight, and even give their lives so we can exercise this freedom.
Vote.
Give hope to those in other countries who do not YET have this basic democratic right.
Vote.
In case you have been living under a rock (Yes, I’m talking to you, Patrick Star), or have just awoken in the middle of a forest with a beard the length of a football field and a hangover the size of Rip’s “Van Winkle,” (as he likes to call it), it is November 4, 2008. Election Day.
So go get in line. And while you’re in line, dream about the FREE cup of Starbucks coffee and Krispy Kreme donut you can go grab afterward.
Mmm…Democracy and donuts. Nothing could be sweeter.

I would have to drive about 45 minutes to get my free coffee and donut but I am thinking about doing it. 🙂
Update: I was number 342 to vote in my precinct today, thank you very much! AND I am now enjoying my free cup of Starbucks coffee! I thought I was ALL prepared to vote, though, and then realized I had forgotten all of those “county” positions, like “Conservation Board, choose no more than two” and there are five listed! Grrr…
I cast my vote.
🙂
Great post! I’m proud to be an American and I’m VERY proud of my vote!
I love this day because no matter our economic status, gender or race, we all get the same amount of votes…ONE! Isn’t that just amazing? The janitor and CEO are equal today. The professor and the student. The biker and the banker. The athlete and the nerd. The gifted and the ordinary. Today, each of us is equal. Remarkable.
God bless America, indeed.
