Thriftilicious Thursday—Take Advantage of Educator Discounts

I grew up with a mom who was a teacher. Now I’m married to a teacher. Oh, yeah, and I used to be a teacher myself. So obviously I understand how hard teachers work—and how much of their own money they spend on their classrooms, while not earning the income they probably deserve. So I always appreciate when a business offers discounts for educators. We’ve made good use of Apple’s educator discount throughout the years (I’m on my third laptop in five years. Being a mom of boys is hazardous to anything valuable!), and we also gladly accept the discount we receive from AT&T on our cell phone bill.

Borders offers 25% discounts to teachers everyday, but from Sept. 29 to Oct. 7, Borders is celebrating Educator Appreciation Week by bumping that discount up to 30% on nearly any item in the store!

And don’t think that the discount is just applicable to current teachers. Homeschooling parents/teachers and retired teachers can also take advantage of this! (That one’s for you, Mom.)

Purchases don’t have to be made specifically for the classroom either, so I’m thinking it would be a good time to grab a few Christmas gifts in order to spread out the spending. . .

Thanks to Borders and all other companies who recognize the value of teachers!
