My boys are fascinated by the Guinness World Records. In fact, the current year’s anthology has a permanent spot on the Christmas list every year. Maybe it’s the possibility of fame. Maybe it’s the opportunity to wow us with amazing feats. Or maybe it’s just the freakish photos. Whatever the reason, the Guinness World Records book guarantees hours of gasps and giggles from my crew.

I don’t know too many kids who aren’t intrigued by the World Records. I mean, there is truly something for everyone, from the First Space Tourist to the Youngest Billionaire to the World’s Longest Fingernails (Male) (which are over 23 feet long. *Shudder*) Even our current president made the record book, as the First African-American U.S. President.

As we draw an end to the first decade of this millennium, the Guinness World Records wants to know what you think. They’ve put together a shortlist of records from the decade and are asking fans to vote on their favorites. What a fun activity for the kids to do! Visit the Guinness World Records Web site and click on the box that says Top 100 Records of the Decade. Have your kids read the short descriptions of the records they find most intriguing and then ask them to cast their vote for their favorites. Or jump on the site and discover your favorite records, such as the World’s Shortest Living Mobile Man (just over 2 feet 5 inches!), yourself!

Voting will end Christmas weekend, so don’t wait!

As a sneak preview, I’m including a photo of the woman with the World’s Longest Legs. (Considering my legs are short of average as it is, she’s not making me feel any better about myself. Dang!)
